New Bra Innovation? Or Lingerie Development?

  • Posted on December 16, 2009 at 7:44 pm

Michelle Mone of Ultimo Lingerie has teamed up with Tesco Supermarkets to launch a new bra named the “limitless bra”.

We have not tested the bra’s limits and have seen similar elsewhere, except for, perhaps this goes a stage further. It has various eye holes so you can select where the straps should go. And the Bra Cups move also.

Hustler lingerie for one, have been doing adaptable bras for a while, but this may well be an innovation unless you know any different. Limitless? Not sure. Some user/lingerie buyer feedback is required. The lingerie video is below. £16 the bra. Decent price.

Mixed views about supermarket chains getting into lingerie ranges. In fact No! Dead against it! Not blaming Ultimo, they couldn’t say no, but Supermarkets eh? What damage have they done, and what will they do in the future. It’s another subject really and not for here. So watch the lingerie vid about the bra.

(notice that comment about badly fitting bras, they often include it. One possibly two reasons 1. “So I must buy a new bra because this doesn’t quite fit. ” Maybe 2. See earlier post about Breast Cancer.

Lingerie and Sport, Sporty or Lingerie Invasion?

  • Posted on November 21, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Girls playing sport in lingerie

Girls playing sport in lingerie

We have noticed with interest the increasing involvement of lingerie in sport. Or, sport in lingerie which ever way round it is happening.

I tend to think that it is lingerie which is becoming so popular and as society seems to be encouraging sexiness, it is moving over into new and welcome marketing areas. Maybe not with the intention of selling lingerie initially or directly, but indirectly.

We have seen for example those silly WWF or WWE (perhaps more appropriate) lingerie clad girls. Then the Lingerie Football league, perhaps a little more serious in sporting intent but not purely there for the “sport” as sport is normally understood.

Beech Volleyball is an Olympic Sport but that’s not really lingerie, it’s more sportswear.

With some other examples ignored for the moment, we now have Katie Perry (pop singer UK) wearing a specially designed West Ham football lingerie kit as a gift from Russell Brand. (kind of entertainer UK, controversial). What next, Huddersfield Town Football club playing in lingerie?

(Noo Noo..inside joke!)

It is worthy of further consideration and a longer post at some later point. But for now, we ask a few questions which are; is this a good thing or a bad thing, is it serious, and should lingerie stay in the bedroom and out of sport? Or does it mutually benefit both?  Is it a dumbing down of sport or just another example of dumbing down of society? Will more lingerie sales result? Is it just for the lads? Will sport suffer in the long run? Will lingerie all go sporty?

We may study this lingerie and sport connection in more depth later as we see how things develop but in the meantime have you any opinion on lingerie and sport?

Is the following short lingerie sport video justification for an opinion on sport and lingerie?

Satellite Tracking Sexy Lingerie

  • Posted on November 15, 2009 at 5:05 pm

This lingerie story first surfaced about a year ago but is doing the rounds again. Must be a new press release or relaunch or something but anyway, yes lingerie is available with GPS. Satellite tracking in the lingerie is avalable!

The feminists are outraged (of course), the big brother is watching you lot are probably outraged as well. Calm down please! No one is forcing anyone to wear any such tracking device in their lingerie that does not want to.

There could be a bit of fun in it for a romantic couple. It’s called “Find me if you can” afterall. That’s not sinister tracking against anyone’s will. It’s a fun sexy game I should think.

But perhaps more importantly it’s great publicity for the lingerie company concerned who are now selling GPS systems as well and making more money. No one will buy the lingerie who doesn’t also want to buy a GPS system as well. I am sure the tracking system is removable and both the lingerie and the tracking system can be used independently of each other. And perhaps sold separately too.

I wonder what we can sell as a lingerie add on and get great publicity and make more money?

Anyway the GPS lingerie company is Lindelucy and here we have attached a short youtube video to give you some more information. It has some terrible cheesy music so switch your speakers off!

No Lingerie News is Boring Lingerie News

  • Posted on November 11, 2009 at 7:15 pm

I was tasked with posting a nice topical lingerie news post for this blog today. Easy, I thought. Plenty of news around and plenty of lingerie too.

However, there is a distinct lack of appropriate lingerie news just at the moment, sorry. OK there are some new releases from this manufacturer, or that lingerie designer but nothing of any real substance.

I could of included some news on the latest lingerie model did this or that but I did not want to drop to the depths of some tabloid newspapers. I could have told you about some stupid idea tested on animals involving lingerie implants. But I won’t do it and hope nobody ever goes there with real people.

So what else in this absence of lingerie worthy news? The good old shoplifters getting caught or escaping perhaps, no. Or a lingerie news article related to the lingerie football league (that’s potentially interesting but needs some thought first). In the meantime then, no lingerie news is boring lingerie news.

And a lingerie product focus to follow quickly in the absence of any news worthy news.

Before I go, I have been asked to mention that although we allow dofollow comments on posts, they should be relevant and adding value..not just obvious spammy type. OK? No worries. And give us a link back too if you are lingerie related, or give us a link back if you are not, thanks. Not always, just sometimes, somewhere.

Back to another post about lingerie now.

Conical Bra | Pointy Bras | Would you buy one?

  • Posted on November 5, 2009 at 8:36 am

It is widely reported today that conical or pointy bras (sometimes known as bullet bras) are flying off the shelves.  Well there has been a rise in the demand for retro or vintage style lingerie but we still wonder it this is just a push to try and make the conical bras fly off the shelves.

They are been sold by Rigby and Peller, John Lewis and What Katie Did amongst others so if you want to buy one you should find them there. But do you want to buy one? And if so, Why?

The conical pointy bullet bra may certainly get you some attention and if that’s what you are after fine. But wait a minute, it just isn’t sexy! It’s perhaps aggressive looking and certainly not feminine. Women’s breasts are supposed to be curvy not pointy so it’s quite an unnatural look.

Maybe it was a sexy look back in the 1950s. We may think of Marilyn Monroe, Diana Dors, Jane Mansfield and others but it isn’t sexy today. sorry, not in this writer’s opinion anyway. You are welcome to disagree.

Perhaps your overall style is retro 1950s and if so you may wear the bra well but otherwise will a conical bra really fit in with the rest of your wardrobe?

Have your say on the conical pointy bullet bra below.

It Ain’t Sexy Lingerie, But Does it Work?

  • Posted on November 4, 2009 at 6:10 pm

An interseting new bedtime sleeptime not playtime (I think, but who knows?) bra which is designed to separate the breasts of larger well endowed ladies. The idea is that it discourages wrinkling experienced by ladies as they age and even helps cleavage. Less contact between the breasts, less skin rubbing, therefore less wrinkling, I think is the idea. How it restores cleavage too,  I’m not sure.

It’s a Dutch (Netherlands idea) and has taken off over there and seems to be selling well and now coming to the UK.

There are so many possible corny rubbish jokes with this lingerie item and I am trying to avoid those unintentional double entendres but failing.

We don’t sell it and have no immediate plans to do so unless demand is err, a little more than expected. But we thought our visitors may be interested.

We’ve pinched a pic (hope that’s OK with you Rachel De Boer, it’s publicity after all) so you can see how it supposedly works.

Rachel said,

‘There are plenty of sexy bras out there and this is not a sexy bra, but it can help you get your sexy cleavage back.

‘I spent many happy years as an air hostess travelling the world and obviously enjoying the sunshine and beaches.”

The anti wrinkle bra is called, ‘La Decollette’

Anti Wrinkle Bra

Anti Wrinkle Bra

Whether it will sell well outside

of the Netherlands we’ll have to wait and see.

It may not work as intended, it may work, we don’t know. But could it possibly help a comfortable sleep for a larger breasted lady?

Glow in the Dark Luminous Lingerie..interesting

  • Posted on October 29, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Illuminated lingerie

Illuminated lingerie

Well we are familiar with the glow in the dark clubwear, you know those clothes that glow when dancing or whatever in the club under UV or Black lights. That has grown in popularity. Well it seems it is transferring over to some lingerie, which seems intended for the bedroom.

An interesesting development.

Well, it is not taking off  just yet with the bigger lingerie designers but one Australian company is reporting glowing lingerie sales.

We are not sure how it works exactly. Presumably there is no UV in the bedroom so the lingerie must store somehow the radiation, temporarily. The glow fading over time, I expect.

It could take off worldwide perhaps, but a psychologist may ask some questions of the desire for such lingerie but it’s just a bit of fun I suppose.

The brainchild of Jan Hawley.

Miss Hawley said: “The success we’ve had has been remarkable. I started out with my husband James two years ago in a remote part of Australia and now it’s a multinational business that shows no sign of stopping.”

Celebrity Lingerie Ups and Downs

  • Posted on October 24, 2009 at 10:49 am

Many celebrities get linked with lingerie brands from time to time, sometimes even “designing” their own ranges. Celebrity endorsements can certainly help sales of lingerie but it is not always plane sailing for the celebrity involved.

It has been reported that Katie Price (Jordan) is to part from the Asda supermarket chain who will no longer be selling her lingerie. Reasons appear to include fall out from her recent divorce from Peter Andre and some perhaps ill-judged remarks during breast cancer awareness month.

A spokesman for the model said, “The contract had come to its natural end. We’re in negotiations for a new deal for her lingerie range.”

Meanwhile TV presenter Tess Daly has been engaged by lingerie company La Senza to promote their upcoming new festive range.

Lisa Bond, marketing director for La Senza said “Tess epitomises everything the La Senza woman wants to be.

“She is gorgeous with a great sense of humour and a fabulous sense of fashion.

“She is also a working mother and we feel our customers will really aspire to the fact that she always looks amazing whilst juggling her family and career.”

Bra Connection to Breast Cancer?

  • Posted on October 18, 2009 at 5:58 pm

It has been Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lately you could not fail to notice the colour Pink which the has been linked to it. A successful promotion and a worthy effort. However, little or no mention has been made to one possible contributory cause to breast cancer.

As we are a involved in the sale of lingerie but also concerned of this possible bra connection we could just ignore it as unproven as many manufacturers appear to do.

To put it simply, it has been suggested for some years now that there may be a connection between between tightly fitting bras and breast cancer. Some have said a very strong connection and likely hood of a tight bras effecting blood flow etc.  We don’t know, but it may need further investigation with an open mind and in the meantime, it may be prudent to make sure that you wear a well fitting bra. Most ladies do reportedly wear one that is too tight.

You can find out a bit more here about the possible connection in particular  in the comments section

Ultimo Lingerie Sack Model for Going Topless

  • Posted on October 16, 2009 at 2:16 pm

Ultimo Lingerie have reportedly sacked model Katie Green for being photographed topless on a beach in Portugal. She apparently broke their “no nudity” clause.  She was also accused of publicity seeking by Michelle Mone, founder of Ultimo.

Some may recall the model is larger than most in that she is not skinny. She is a known friend of MP Lembit Opik, himself , one never shy of publicity. Mr Opik has lept to her defence, as he would.

Rather ironic really, a bra model sacked for not wearing a bra!
